Steve Kopecky is the proud owner and President of Compass Performance, Inc. With a remarkable background in coaching, Steve's journey began in the U.S. Navy where he honed his skills in developing and guiding Commanding Officers and their combat systems teams, preparing them for deployments in war zones. His passion for helping others led him to serve as the Director of an outpatient drug, alcohol, and mental health treatment center during the final three years of his commendable eleven-year active duty career. Here, he provided invaluable assistance to service members and their families through assessment and treatment programs, making a significant impact on their lives.
After Leaving the U.S. Navy, Steve ventured into the business world of human resources and organizational development. He had the opportunity to witness various business transformations throughout his career. However, his most remarkable achievement in scaling up and simplifying operations occurred during his global expatriate assignment in Europe. Working at ITW, he gained firsthand experience regarding the power of business transformation and simplification through the implementation of an innovative "front to back" 80/20 operating model and toolbox. This model demonstrated to Steve that organizations can achieve more with focused resources by reducing complexity and preparing for growth through strategic focus on core markets, customers, and products.
"It was truly remarkable to witness a business model that not only worked but also generated exceptional cash flow from operations, improved bottom line results, and fostered the development of a highly engaged and skilled workforce."
In addition to his professional pursuits, Steve finds fulfillment in giving back to the community. He has regularly dedicated his time to coaching youth sports, volunteering as a fireman on a local fire department, and serving as a board member for esteemed organizations such as the American Red Cross, Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, and various local planning committees.
